Madikeri is the district headquarters of Kodagu with about 28,729 population. Muddurajakeri named after the first ruler Mudduraja from this place since 1681 later became Madikeri. There are lots of picnic spots in and around madikeri. The Madikeri Palace or Fort, Omkareshwar Temple, Raja’s tomb, Raja’s seat, Abbey falls are some of the major attractions in Madikeri

A Kushalnagar is an amazing place to visit in Coorg. There are lots of picnic spots in and around Kushalnagar. Some of them are Veerabhoomi, Nisargadhama, Tibetian Monastery and Golden Temple at Bylukuppe and Harangi Dam. Bylekuppe is the second largest Tibetan settlement outside Tibet, complete with a Tibetan monastery with 7,000 monks, a Tibetan village and a flea market. The Buddha Temple situated at the Tibetian Camp is 4kms from Kushalnagar and one of the biggest in the world

Virajpet, Somwarpet, Gonicoppa and Ponnampet are the areas where coffee, cardamom, pepper, oranges and now vanila are grown in plenty. Virajpet, a small town, reputed to be the largest producer of honey in Asia. Virajpet is a hot spot especially during the Shivaratri festival. Many Estate owners are willing to let people spend their holidays in Private Estate cottages and even taste typical local meal for a very nominal amount.
